Federal Government has Launched a Commemoration Fund for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls
Over the next two years, the federal government will disperse a new $10 million commemoration fund to develop various activities and events across Canada.
The fund was developed in memory of those who have been killed or gone missing over the past 30 years, and is a result of recommendations made by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, that activities should be funded that honour the lives and legacies of Indigenous women, girls and LGBT people.
Initiatives could include events like Powwows, healing circles, lecture series, art workshops, community monuments and totem poles.
Organizations can find more information and submit an application to the Call for Proposals by visiting women.gc.ca.
The deadline to submit is March 28, 2019 at midnight.
