Banff RCMP investigating after detonated pipe bomb found in garbage bin
Alberta RCMP are investigating after an exploded pipe bomb was found in Banff National Park.
On Tuesday, Parks Canada employees spotted the improvised explosive device, which detonated within a garbage receptacle near Carrot Creek.
The device caused some damage to the can, but at this point, police believe it’s an act of vandalism and wasn’t intended to cause harm or promote a cause.
RCMP and Parks Canada checked other garbage bins in the park but did not find any other devices.
