Red Deer family found safe after being reported missing on Monday

Hours after asking the public for tips about a family in central Alberta that had reportedly been missing, the RCMP have announced all five missing people have been "located safe."

Early Tuesday morning, police issued a news release saying they were contacted by a local school on Monday after a number of students from the same family, who were seen earlier in the day at school, had gone missing.

The circumstances surrounding their disappearance "were unknown under concerning circumstances," police said.

Police were looking for a Red Deer mother and her four children.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, polcie announced all five were accounted for but did not say where they were found or what happened to them.
