The Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the Calgary Hitmen 5-1 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday afternoon.
Logan Cunningham stopped 38 shots for the Oil Kings in goal, leading the team to victory. Calgary outshot the Oil Kings 39-30.
It was also 'Every Child Matters' day at the Saddledome, dedicated to Indigenous youth empowerment through sport, and included a celebration of Blackfoot culture presented in partnership with Siksika Health Services.
The first intermission featured on-ice traditional Indigenous dancers and the second intermission featured a round dance on the Saddledome concourse.
Traditional Blackfoot cuisine was also available on the concourse.
The Western Hockey League game was broadcast in the Blackfoot Language across Southern Alberta on CJWE, Alberta's Best Country with Butch Wolf Leg, Eldon Weasel Child and Vincent Yellow Old Women, calling the Action.
The broadcast started with a Treaty 7 Land Acknowledgment
