Warnings and closures issued following bear sighting in Kananaskis

Anyone travelling out in the country should be cautious

Anyone heading out to the backcountry this weekend is being warned about bears.

Alberta Parks says several bear advisories have been issued and a number of trails have been closed as a result of the bear activity.

The closures include the Chester Lake Trail, Rawson Lake and Sarrail Ridge in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park and the Bill Milne Bicycle Trail in Kananaskis.

Alberta Parks said although some areas have warnings you can run into a bear anytime in the backcountry so make sure you're "bear smart" making plently of noise, travelling in groups, keeping your pet on a leash and carrying bear spray.
