Vaccination center planned for Cargill meat plant

The vaccines will be given out by occupational health nurses employed by Cargill.

Alberta Health Services confirms the plans to immunize workers at the Cargill meat plant in High River.

Cargill was the site of countless outbreaks throughout 2020, according to AHS the workers will be vaccinated as part of the Phase 2C rollout, dependent on vaccine availability. The opening date of the on-site clinic has not been released.

The meat plant has stopped operations for two weeks in April of last year after an outbreak of 951 was confirmed. Two employees passed away, and a father of a worker also passed away from the outbreak.

AHS says they are hoping to expand this project to other meat processing plants in the coming weeks.
