The 2020 Alberta Winter Games will be held in Airdrie, February 14-17

Athletes competing in the 2020 Alberta Winter Games range in age from 11 to 17 and represent 23 different sports, including ice hockey, figure skating, alpine skiing and badminton.

 

The Alberta Winter Games is a multi-sport event for developing athletes, aged 11-17 years old.

The Winter Games were first hosted in 1976 in Banff, and occurs each even-numbered year. The athletes are selected to represent the eight zones in Alberta in 20 sports such as hockey, badminton, gymnastics, skiing, Figure skating and wrestling.

This is the second time Airdrie has hosted an Alberta Games. Athletes from all over the province converged on the city in 2014 for the Alberta Summer Games.

AWG opening ceremony will be held on Friday February 14, starting at 7pm at City hall in Airdrie.  It will also be broadcast province wide on Global TV.
