New RCMP detachment coming to Stoney Nakoda First Nation

The detachment opened on January 4th

A new RCMP detachment opened in Stoney Nakoda First Nation earlier this month.

The project has been in the works for the past year, he Stoney Nakoda detachment will see a culmination of RCMP members from Kananaskis and Cochrane meld to create a semi-autonomous centre on Jan. 4.

To start, there will be eight regular constables and two Non-Commissioned Officers to run the management side.

The new location is based out of the RCMP satellite office located west of the Chiniki Gas Bar
