Kristian Ayoungman's #11 retired during emotional tribute Saturday night

The 24 year old from Siksika Nation played Junior B Hockey for the Siksika Buffaloes senior AA hockey team, as well as Strathmore's Wheatland Kings.


Family, friends, and former teammates filled the Strathmore Family Centre Arena Saturday night to pay tribute to Kristian Ayoungman, a former Strathmore Wheatland Kings player, who's life was taken on March 17th.

Ayoungman, who was from Siksika Nation, wore #11

Led by drumming, Kristian’s jersey was retired into the rafters of the arena where he once played.

Shadoe Stoodley,  former head coach of the Strathmore Wheatland Kings also presented Kristians mother, Melodie Hunt-Ayoungman , with a Alumni jersey, which was signed by her son and former members of the hockey club.

Police have charged two brothers with first-degree murder in connection with Kristian’s death.
