Calgary adds new affordable housing unit downtown

With a rise in the homeless population, Legacy on 5th will help out Calgary's at risk community.

The city of Calgary opened their brand new affordable housing unit.

The building, which carries the name Legacy on 5th, will house 74 vulnerable Calgarians who are at risk or homeless, including those with autism and vulnerable seniors.

Legacy on 5th was made possible through the joint collaboration between Calgary Homeless Foundation, HomeSpace Society, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, City of Calgary and the commitment of RESOLVE Campaign donors.

Currently there are close to 3,000 Calgarians who are living homeless every night and upwards of 100,000 households are at risk of losing their housing.
