“The convention centre provides a great opportunity for AHS to rightsize and expand our vaccination supply and delivery based on the demand and supply that we are receiving,”
Alberta’s largest immunization centre is set to open in downtown Calgary on Monday, with the ability to scale up to 120 vaccination stations delivering 6,000 shots per day.
The Telus Convention Centre was chosen because of its central location and proximity to transit. It's opening will bring the total number of Alberta Health Services immunization sites in the Calgary area to 25.
Twenty stations will be in use when doors open on Monday, with appointments already fully booked for the first week.
Free parking will be available on-site but is limited.
Alberta is currently in Phase 2B of its vaccine rollout, meaning Albertans born between 1957 and 1963 with eligible high-risk underlying health conditions can now book appointments, in addition to those included in previous phases.
The immunization site will operate between eight and 16 hours a day, seven days a week, depending on demand. All appointments must be pre-booked.
You can book your vaccination online or by calling 811
