Flag Raising

July 5-14:  11:30am

The Eagle Staff is traditionally carried by First Nations as their flag. When the Eagle Staff is carried into an arena, the Flag Song is sung, a sign of respect that requires those attending to stand.

Flags for each Nation of Treaty 7, the province of Alberta and for Canada are raised and lowered each day, to the sound of drumming and singing.

Tribe Days provides each tribe with the opportunity to share part of their culture with the public on a specific day. Demonstrations include: dancing, storytelling, meat cutting, beadwork and other traditions, on or around the Arbour Stage. An emcee will share information about the traditions and cultures of each nation being featured on stage.
